Job description: The Wealth Management (WM) Chief Data Office (CDO) sits within the WM Risk organization and strives to find the right balance between risk management and business enablement. WM CDO’s mission is to: prevent unauthorized access to or misuse of client sensitive data and assets; abide by relevant privacy laws and regulations; effectively retain, retrieve, and protect information and records at the Firm; and mitigate risks caused by inaccurate, untimely, or incomplete WM data.The End User Security Team within WM CDO works to ensure that our clients’ Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is stored and replicated securely, used properly, and accessed by only authorized individuals.The End User Security Team seeks an Associate to serve as a Business Unit Information Security Officer (BUISO). This individual will support the team in implementing preventative and detective controls to reduce the risk of intentional and unintentional data leakage from WM employees and contingents. BUISOs are expected to exercise risk management principles in conducting day-to-day activities, such as: authorizing access to sensitive client data, advising on the proper handling of sensitive data, and facilitating discussions around categorizing entitlements into business roles.Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensuring adherence with WM’s Access Management program, including application entitlement design, role-based access control, usage analysis, periodic reviews, and initiatives to minimize PII access
- Coordinating and reviewing entitlement requests with business management and local risk teams to ensure alignment, then actioning approved requests
- Staying fluent in Morgan Stanley policies in order to provide advice to business teams on best practices and compliant solutions for access management and information security
- Participating in internal readiness examinations to ensure the WM business is adequately prepared for all audit, compliance, and regulatory reviews
- Representing WM in Morgan Stanley-wide entitlements system design discussions, ensuring that roadmaps meet business/regulatory needs, and testing functionality in advance of deployment
- Identifying and resolving data loss prevention gaps in partnership with Morgan Stanley’s technology and security organizations
- Communicating status for projects, initiatives, and ad hoc requests to ensure timely completion of deliverables and prompt escalation of delays
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree
- 3+ years of relevant risk management experience
- Strong writing skills with an ability to summarize complex problems succinctly
- Intrinsic curiosity and an eagerness to learn new technologies and skills
- Understanding of information security, computer systems, network technologies, mobile devices, and peripherals (e.g., monitors, keyboards, printers, etc.)
- Ability to analyze a high volume of data and work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organization and time management skills, with the ability to swiftly transition between projects and tasks
- Ability to work independently and possess a strong sense of accountability/ownership
- Attention to detail, strong analytical, quantitative, and investigative problem-solving abilities
- Must be results-oriented and have a proactive approach to solving issues
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of the financial services industry; preferably in wealth management, finance, operations, or technology
- Experience with content and project management tools, including SharePoint, Jive, and Jira
- Experience working in ServiceNow or any other major ticketing system
- Familiarity with visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, QlikView, Dataiku)
