Villa Academy seeks a full-time HR Generalist to join its team. The HR Generalist is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Human Resources. This is a twelve-month, salaried, non-exempt position that follows the academic calendar, reporting to the Director of Business & Finance.The ideal candidate is an experienced Human Resources professional, with the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively. They are warm and personable while also highly skilled at maintaining workplace professionalism at all times. They support the school and its people while closely adhering to and furthering best practices in Human Resources.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the full cycle of the recruitment process: posting positions, collaborating with hiring managers, assisting with candidate screening and interviews, and preparing work agreements.
  • Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, including conducting new employee orientation and exit interviews.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date HR records, including position descriptions, background checks, and safety training records for all employees.
  • Coordinate performance evaluation for faculty and staff.
  • Serve as a resource for employees regarding benefits, leave policies, and workplace guidelines.
  • Partner with supervisors to develop and implement Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs) when needed.
  • Support employee relations and provide guidance in conflict resolution, mediation, and disciplinary matters.
  • Process monthly payroll using ADP Workforce Now for 90+ employees.
  • Administer employee benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, voluntary products, and retirement plans.
  • Reconcile benefit invoices monthly to ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Business & Finance to review and update workplace policies and the Employee Handbook.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Process time off requests, as well as PFML and FMLA leave applications.
  • Represent Villa Academy at hiring fairs and recruitment events as needed.
  • Actively participate in the school community.
  • Participate in faculty/staff meetings, as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; SHRM-CP or PHR preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in HR, with broad exposure to recruitment, benefits, payroll, compliance, and employee relations.
  • Previous experience in a school or nonprofit setting is preferred.
  • Experience processing payroll and managing HRIS platforms, familiarity with ADP preferred.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrated skill in conflict resolution.
  • Ability to maintain exceptional discretion and confidentiality.
  • Comfort working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Active engagement and education in current HR trends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Calendar, Drive).
  • ??Excellent communication skills to support working with students, families, faculty/staff, and campus partners.
  • Positive energy and enthusiasm for working in a Preschool through Eighth Grade, faith-based independent school.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional growth, curiosity, cultural humility, and antiracism, as well as an understanding of its critical role in academic excellence and student growth.

SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS:
Anticipated salary ranges between $85,000–$95,000/year, dependent upon education and experience. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
