Funding has been requested for October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026.* The Access and Visitation (A&V) coordinator works directly with non-custodial parents to remove barriers that prevent them from visiting with their children.Duties include but are not limited to the following:
- Assists non-custodial parents with locating and accessing community resources and services to help them increase the amount of time spent with their children.
- Provides parent education classes and resources to help divorcing or separating parents become aware of the needs of their children during and after the separation process.
- Receives and responds to questions via phone and email from parents in counties that do not have a staff coordinator on site
- Provides 1:1 counseling in person, via WebEx or phone to provide information about increasing parenting time.
- Connects parent with available local resources.
- Accepts and actively seeks referrals from child support enforcement court, family court judges, child support enforcement agents, attorneys, human service providers, and other sources.
- Performs individual case management, which includes reporting statistics monthly for all clients who receive services.
- Develop and maintain an active presence in the community to inform the public, social service agencies, and organizations about the services offered to parents by the Access and Visitation program.
- Identifies needed services that are not offered in the community and works with local agencies and organizations to seek funding and implement these additional services.
This position provides remote coverage for regions without an A&V coordinator and provides in-person training to other A&V coordinators when necessary. The primary workstation for this position is in the Wake County Family Court Office and the Legal Support Center located in the Wake County Courthouse.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / CompetenciesKnowledge of: NC court processes, particularly family and child support courts; available community resources, and child and family dynamics.Skills in: interviewing to obtain information in person or by telephone; conducting individual and multi-part consultations; case management; building and maintaining community partnerships; public speaking; resource development; and MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.Ability to: communicate effectively orally and in writing; giving presentations; establish a rapport with clients and colleagues; multi-task; problem solve; develop new products and groups to accomplish program goals; and work with various organizations and committees to accomplish program objectives.Minimum Education and Experience RequirementsGraduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in a human services field such as psychology, social work, sociology, counseling, or criminal justice and one (1) year of experience in a human services field or the court system; or an associate’s degree in a human services field plus three (3) years of equivalent experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Management prefers a candidate with general knowledge of the court system, specifically, family court processes and procedures.Attach cover letter, résumé, and writing sample.Supplemental and Contact InformationINSTRUCTIONS:Applicants must complete an on-line application by clicking the above APPLY link.
