Gender: AnyWhat Does a Tug Engineer Do?– Monitor, supervise, and operate tug machinery to ensure optimal functionality during marine operations
– Conduct routine preventive maintenance and perform major or minor mechanical repairs on engines and auxiliary systems
– Report mechanical issues or irregularities to the Tug Fleet Foreman to avoid operational disruptions and resource wastage
– Maintain a structured inventory of engine spare parts and prepare material requests for timely procurement
– Execute PMS activities including oil changes, filter cleaning, leak repairs, and engine inspections
– Ensure the cleanliness, safety, and operational readiness of all machinery spaces on board
– Verify material quality before use and report any damages or deviations
– Maintain accurate maintenance records and follow allocated work schedules and deadlines
– Participate in technical training sessions and contribute to continuous process improvements
– Foster a collaborative working environment with foremen, supervisors, and the broader marine teamWhat Are the Key Responsibilities?– Operate and maintain marine tug engines and mechanical systems as per daily port operations
– Support preventive and corrective maintenance routines in alignment with DP World standards
– Monitor tug performance, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and escalate when necessary
– Maintain compliance with STCW and DDW-D safety standards
– Manage spare parts inventory, submit material requests, and support vessel readiness
– Promote safety awareness and cleanliness within all workspaces onboardWhat Skills Are Needed for a Tug Engineer in Dubai?Education:
– Minimum qualification: 12th Grade with Science
– STCW III/3 (Engine) restricted certification
– Marine engineering diploma is an added advantageExperience:
– 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience as a Tug Engineer within port or marine services industry
– Familiarity with dual-fuel diesel engine systems and tug propulsion unitsTechnical Skills:
– Strong understanding of marine engine operations, PMS schedules, and mechanical troubleshooting
– Experience in spare parts management, oil/water leak detection, and system overhauls
– Ability to interpret mechanical manuals and safety procedures
