Job description: Interpret for hearing impaired student mainstreamed in the general education settingPerformance Duties:
1. Interpret the spoken message for the hearing impaired student at his/her level of language comprehension via sign language and finger spelling.
2. Reverse interpret (voice) messages signed by the hearing impaired student.
3. Assist in communication between the student and school personnel or the student’s peers.
4. Work collaboratively with teachers to assist in pre-teaching sign for new vocabulary.
5. Interprete for school music programs.
6. Participate in parent conferences and staffings as requested.
7. Understand and follow program guidelines for educational interpreters.
8. Perform such other duties and assume such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Special Education Director.Qualifications:
1. State Approval as an Educational Interpreter in Illinois.
2. Ability to function effectively as a member of the school team.Salary and Benefits:
Base salary starting at $44,100
