Job description: About the Position:Brooklyn Prospect Charter School is seeking an Middle School Program Coordinator (part-time) to support in the day to day management and operations of our After-School Program. The After-school Program Coordinator will assist in the overall administration of BPCS’s After-school Program including but not limited to: implementation of enrichment activities, advertising the program, theme based projects, scheduling of activities, record keeping and reporting, communicating with parents and school staff and organizing special events. Job Responsibility:
- Support the daily operations of the afterschool program, including but not limited to supporting after school activity specialists, scheduling and creating club rosters, purchasing, and tracking participant attendance and enrollment.
- Work collaboratively with the Network Director of After school and Extended Day & the Principal to maintain & develop a robust after school program that serves and engages BPCS students and aligns with the organization’s mission.
- Provide coverage as needed for After school Program Aides.
- Oversee and collaborate with any external vendors to develop and implement high functioning enrichment programs.
- Work with the Network Director of After school and Extended Day to coordinate and facilitate quarterly program-wide staff development opportunities.
- Design & Coordinate seasonal programming options, i.e external vendor relationships, summer camps, spring & summer academies/credit recovery program for students in need of additional academic support
- Collaborate with the Principal and Director of School Operations to ensure a high rate of participation through utilizing school based marketing resources.
- Support the Network Director to identify essential program areas where the ES program office can support family engagement and the planning of specialized events.
- Participate in bi-weekly meetings to update the Network Director on programming updates & school based functions.
- Foster strong relationships and effective communication resources for students, families, staff, and senior leadership.
- Provide students with a safe SEL after school environment with the support of the school culture department.
- Manage safety & health protocols, reserve space, manage school calendars & ASP landing pages.
- Maintain the streamlined student behavioral expectations set by the school culture team that support students’ needs and encourage positive behavior.
- Maintain the snack distribution data for compliance records.
- Serve as admin onsite during after school program hours
About You:As a part-time After-School Coordinator, your responsibilities include:
- Manage online data of student information
- Manage daily attendance
- Coordinate school space with the Elementary School Operations team
- Manage event calendars
- Support the creation of meeting agendas and the flow of Team Meetings
- Plan special events
- Assist with program set up, snack and clean up.
- Assist with designing and scheduling activities that incorporate all elements of the program, with an emphasis on BPCS’s mission.
- Oversee the storage, use and inventory of all program supplies.
- Complete selected data entry tasks.
- Create promotional material and help implement outreach and retention strategies.
- Take initiative and provide suggestions for improving the overall program.
- Promote the concepts of teamwork, fair play and sportsmanship inclusive of ultimate responsibility for the behavior of youth at the site and on trips.
- Provide site-based support to teachers, tutors and activity specialists in implementing the program.
- Help facilitate seamless transitions to programming and snack that aligns with day school standards.
- Encourage and lead projects that foster academic, cultural and artistic growth.
- Provide coverage for activity specialists when needed
- Communicate program’s challenges, progress and success with the Network Director of Afterschool Programming.
- The Program Coordinator may also participate and provide input in the hiring process and performance evaluations of activity specialists
- Perform additional duties and projects assigned at the discretion of the Network Director of After school and Extended Day
Education and Training
- Minimum of two years of work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required.
- Must have passion for BPCS mission and demonstrated interest in the field of education and youth development.
- Must pass a pre-employment background investigation including but not limited to employment history and criminal background check.
- Ability to work as part of a team and with minimal supervision as applicable.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite. .
- Operate a variety of office equipment, including: copy machine, phone system and mac OS.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisor, other staff members, program participants, parents and the general public.
Salary: $28-$35 per hour
Expected salary: $28 – 35 per hour
