Job description: Job Overview:We are seeking an innovative and enthusiastic Elementary STEM Lab Teacher to join our team and inspire students in grades K-5 to explore the world of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The ideal candidate will be passionate about hands-on learning, problem-solving, and fostering a growth mindset in young learners. This role involves developing and implementing engaging STEM curriculum, facilitating inquiry-based learning experiences, and incorporating technology into lessons to enhance student understanding and engagement. We are looking for candidates who are either experienced with or open to integrating new technologies to support and enrich STEM education.Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver exciting, hands-on STEM lessons that engage students in scientific inquiry, engineering challenges, coding, robotics, and other STEM-related activities.
- Foster a learning environment that encourages critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, and problem-solving through project-based learning and inquiry-driven activities.
- Incorporate technology tools and resources (e.g., coding platforms, educational apps, digital design tools, and robotics kits) to enhance the STEM learning experience.
- Work with classroom teachers to integrate STEM concepts into the broader curriculum and ensure interdisciplinary connections are made.
- Create and manage a safe, organized, and resource-rich STEM lab environment, ensuring students have access to the materials they need to succeed in STEM projects.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing feedback and support to guide their learning.
- Support and guide students in developing a deeper understanding of STEM concepts, using real-world problems and challenges as learning opportunities.
- Encourage curiosity and foster a growth mindset by motivating students to ask questions, experiment, and embrace challenges.
- Participate in the design and implementation of school-wide STEM-related events, such as science fairs, robotics competitions, or engineering challenges.
- Stay current with best practices in STEM education and emerging technologies, and integrate new tools and strategies to enhance student learning.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians to share student progress, achievements, and upcoming STEM activities.
- Collaborate with other educators and staff to continually improve the STEM program and ensure alignment with district goals and standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, STEM Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid teaching certification for Elementary Education (K-5).
- Experience teaching STEM subjects or working in a STEM-related field (preferred).
- Strong knowledge of STEM concepts, including science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and how to apply them in an elementary setting.
- Experience with or openness to using technology in the classroom (e.g., coding platforms, digital design software, robotics kits, interactive learning tools).
- Ability to create and manage a hands-on, engaging learning environment where students are encouraged to experiment and collaborate.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Passion for fostering student curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills in the field of STEM.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and support their growth in STEM fields.
Desired Skills:
- Familiarity with STEM-related technologies such as coding languages (e.g., Scratch, Python), robotics kits (e.g., LEGO Mindstorms, Sphero), or 3D printing tools.
- Experience using digital platforms for STEM education (e.g., Tinkercad, Google Classroom, Seesaw).
- Willingness to learn new technologies and incorporate them into STEM lessons to keep students engaged and up-to-date with current trends in the field.
- Experience creating interdisciplinary projects that connect STEM learning with other areas of the curriculum, such as art, social studies, or literacy.
Expected salary: $45000 – 50000 per year
