Villa Academy seeks a full-time Facilities Maintenance Lead to join its team. This 8 hour/day role will help guide our dedicated Facilities team in maintaining our school’s buildings and grounds. This hands-on role combines leadership, problem-solving, and technical expertise to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for our community. Hours are 6:30 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday through Friday. Throughout the year additional hours will be required. This is a twelve-month, hourly position that follows the academic calendar, reporting to the Director of Facilities.The ideal candidate is a leader with extensive facilities maintenance experience, a strong understanding of building systems, and a proven ability to guide and motivate a team. They are organized, solution-oriented, and skilled at prioritizing tasks to ensure seamless operations. With excellent communication skills and a commitment to professionalism, they thrive in a school environment, fostering collaboration while maintaining a safe, functional, and attractive campus.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Foster collaboration within the Facilities team, providing guidance and mentorship to empower their success, in partnership with the Director of Facilities.
  • Coordinate with school administrators to prioritize maintenance requests, ensuring minimal disruption to daily school operations.
  • Lead by example through hands-on problem-solving and maintaining high standards of quality and professionalism.
  • Track and manage work orders, inventory, and schedules to ensure timely completion of projects while staying within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and school policies to create and maintain a secure campus environment.
  • Maintain school buildings to ensure they are fully functional, safe, and productive for use.
  • Open and secure campus, including unlocking buildings at the start of the day and securing the grounds as needed.
  • Maintain school grounds, including lawn care, tree pruning, and upkeep of planting beds to preserve a welcoming and well-maintained appearance.
  • Set up and break down for events, ensuring all arrangements meet the needs of the school community.
  • Perform general maintenance tasks, including preventative and ongoing maintenance to keep facilities in excellent condition.
  • Assist with traffic management, helping facilitate smooth and safe school arrival and dismissal processes.
  • Handle janitorial duties as needed to support a clean and functional environment.
  • Participate in faculty/staff meetings and perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of experience in facilities maintenance or a related field, with strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and general building systems.
  • Leadership experience with a proven ability to motivate, guide, and support a team effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities seamlessly in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with maintenance software or work order systems; experience with such tools is a plus.
  • Proficiency with power tools and the ability to perform minor repairs to school buildings and equipment.
  • Skill in operating landscaping equipment necessary for campus maintenance.
  • A current Washington state driver’s license and applicable automobile insurance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with diverse school constituencies, including students, staff, and families.
  • Neat and professional appearance, appropriate for a school environment.
  • Ability to collaborate and build cooperative relationships with all members of the school community.
  • Physical capability to: stand for extended periods, stoop, kneel, bend, turn, and reach as needed, lift up to 50 pounds, work at heights of up to 40 feet (e.g., on ladders, lifts, or roofs,) and perform tasks that involve kneeling or sitting on the floor.
  • Flexibility to work in various conditions, both indoors and outdoors, in all types of weather.
  • Availability for a daytime work schedule, with occasional evening hours as needed.
  • ??Excellent communication skills for working with students, parents, faculty/staff, and campus partners.
  • Positive energy and enthusiasm for working in a Preschool through Eighth Grade, faith-based independent school.

SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS:
Anticipated salary ranges between $35 – 37/hour, dependent upon education and experience. Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
