The model partnership focuses some of the best thinking from the business, non-profit, and public education worlds toward the common goal of building a school that prepares students for life in the 21st century.Job Title: Building Substitute TeacherJob Summary:Henry Ford Academy is seeking a full-time Building Substitute Teacher to join our dedicated team of educators. This position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM, with attendance at after-school meetings throughout the month and participation in at least two extracurricular activities during the school year. Presence and participation at the school’s graduation ceremony are also required.Work Environment:The Building Substitute Teacher will spend most of their time in classrooms and hallways within The Henry Ford Museum and/or Greenfield Village, interacting with students and staff, ensuring smooth transitions, and maintaining a positive school atmosphere.   • Build and maintain positive relationships with students and staff to foster a supportive and engaging learning environment.
  • Create or effectively implement prepared or extemporaneous substitute plans to ensure continuity of instruction.
  • Monitor student behavior, enforce school policies, and promote a safe and respectful environment for all.
  • Fulfill general responsibilities typical of a classroom teacher and professional personnel, including grading, communication, and classroom management.
  • Perform other professional duties as assigned by school administration.

Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of 60 or more credit hours at an accredited college or university (required).
  • Must be able to successfully apply for a substitute teaching permit in the State of Michigan or hold a valid permit currently.
  • Prior experience working with high school students (preferred).
  • Strong classroom management skills and the ability to adapt to a variety of teaching environments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, staff, and administration.
  • Commitment to promoting a positive and safe school culture.
  • Availability to participate in after-school meetings, extracurricular activities, and the school’s graduation ceremony.

Schedule and Compensation

  • Schedule: Full-time, 191 professional days during the school year
  • Salary: $35,000 annually, year-round pay with the same summer break as Teachers
  • Benefits: Health benefits (effective day one) and contributions to the Michigan Retirement System included
