Job description: Principle Accountabilities:
1.Develop and execute effective workforce plans based on project needs, ensuring sufficient manpower is available at all times for ongoing shipbuilding, repair, and maintenance projects.
2.Lead the recruitment process for various positions, including skilled labor (e.g., electricians, welders, and fitters), technical staff, and support roles. Ensure recruitment efforts align with project timelines and skill requirements.
3.Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring that they receive proper orientation, safety training, and understand job expectations, company policies, and shipyard-specific protocols.
4.Identify skills gaps within the workforce and implement training programs to enhance the skills and competencies of employees. This is especially important for specialized roles in shipbuilding and repair, such as marine electricians, engineers, and technical staff.
5.Ensure employees are trained on safety standards, including SOLAS, OSHA, and other maritime safety regulations, to minimize workplace risks. This includes specific training on working in confined spaces, handling hazardous materials, and other safety protocols unique to shipbuilding and repair.
6.Support the career development and progression of employees by identifying opportunities for advancement and professional growth within the organization.
7.Act as a point of contact for employees to voice concerns or grievances and address them promptly.
8.Resolve conflicts or disputes between employees or between employees and management, ensuring fairness and maintaining harmony in the workforce. This may include mediation and managing disciplinary actions when required.
9.Oversee employee welfare programs, ensuring that workers have access to support systems for mental and physical health, particularly in a high-risk environment like shipyards.
10.Develop and implement a structured performance appraisal system to assess employee performance, set objectives, and provide constructive feedback. Align employee performance with organizational goals and project timelines.
11.Manage and implement disciplinary actions for employees not meeting expectations, ensuring adherence to company policies and labor laws.
12.Ensure that the organization complies with local labor laws, maritime regulations, and international standards, including wage laws, working hours, overtime, and employee benefits.
13.Ensure all HR policies align with occupational health and safety requirements specific to the shipbuilding and repair industry.
14.Monitor adherence to safety regulations and recommend improvements.
15.Oversee the management of labor contracts, ensuring employees’ terms and conditions are in line with the company’s legal obligations and contractual agreementsRequirements
1.Bachelor’s (or Master’s) in HR, Business, or related field.
