Job description: Purpose:The Director of the Lincoln University Academy provides leadership in developing and maintaining the best educational programs and services for students through the development of positive community partnerships leading to internships and career opportunities. The Director provides the vision and leadership to promote student academic achievement and successful engagement with workforce placement and advancement. The individual is also expected to provide leadership in the expansion of the Employment Academy through development of new partnerships and career tracks associated with the university degree programs.Essential Job Functions:

  • Develop and maintain high quality curriculum that meets the workforce needs of public and private sector partners. Ensure that Employment Academy directly aligns to and integrates current and future University degree programs as appropriate.
  • Assumes responsibility for continuous improvement of partnerships between state agencies and Lincoln University, as well as developing new partnerships with public and private stakeholders.
  • Manages all academic aspects of the Employment Academy including oversight of adjunct faculty, alignment of curriculum and delivery standards with accreditation requirements, recruitment and enrollment, and oversight of internships.
  • Manages all administrative aspects of the Employment Academy including budgeting, marketing, internal and external reporting requirements, and oversight of LUEA personnel.
  • Communicates and cooperates with internal stakeholders including the Adult Education and Literacy program, Career Services, and all Colleges and Departments in the development and provision of quality curriculum and instruction.
  • Attends professional meetings, conferences, and workshops to maintain professional knowledge/skills, create networking and collaboration opportunities, maintains membership and participates in the affairs of professional societies devoted to the advancement of education and workforce development.
  • Works cooperatively in recruiting, screening, hiring, training, assigning, and evaluating Career Academy staff as defined by university policy and regulations, and recommends personnel actions to the Assistant Provost as necessary.
  • Advises, assists, facilitates, and actively pursues obtaining additional funding for the continuation and expansion of the Academy’s programs. Facilitates the administration and oversight of funds received for the Employment Academy.
  • Maintains cooperative working relationships with government agencies and community organizations to develop educational programs that will prepare students for the workplace. Actively participates with the local Chamber of Commerce. Interacts with public and private sector businesses and engages them as supporters of the Employment Academy mission so that relationships result in financial support, internships, apprenticeships, and job connections for students.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities: * Support University reporting and assessment responsibilities through development and submission of area reports.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:Masters’ degree required, PhD is preferred in Education, Business Administration, Social Work, or a related field.5+ years of experience in educational career advancement programming and instruction.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics:

  • Demonstrated commitment, knowledge, and ability to effectively engage individuals from diverse educational disciplines.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Familiarly with workforce development and career advancement programming within the higher education environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Skills in organization and time management.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills within both professional and higher education areas.
  • Proficiency with state and/or federal workforce development and career advancement systems and programs.
  • Familiarly with student support and advancement programs associated with employment opportunities and career advancement. Able to integrate internships and career advancement programs with certification and degree curriculum frameworks.

  • Light sedentary office work.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
