Villa Academy seeks a part-time Cafeteria & Kitchen Assistant to join its team. This four hours/day role will support the operation of lunch service, in partnership with the whole Kitchen team. They will be handling tasks such as point-of-sale data entry, food preparation, and cleaning. Hours are 10:15 AM – 2:45 PM, Monday through Friday. Throughout the year there will be additional hours required for catered events and professional development days. This is a ten-month, non-exempt position that follows the academic calendar, reporting to the Kitchen Manager & Chef.The ideal candidate is a team player with a passion for creating a positive dining experience for students. They will help foster a safe, healthy, and welcoming environment for students during lunch periods. The candidate will have a strong attention to detail, ensuring that all areas of the cafeteria and kitchen are clean, organized, and well-stocked. They thrive in a fast-paced environment and are comfortable multitasking between food service, data entry, and housekeeping tasks.ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform point-of-sale data entry and assist in serving lunch alongside parent volunteers.
  • Set up and clean the cafeteria, including preparing the salad bar.
  • Replenish food and supplies during lunch service as needed.
  • Assist with meal preparation under the guidance of the Cook & Kitchen Lead, as well as the Kitchen Manager & Chef.
  • Maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen, serving areas, and cafeteria to support daily operations.
  • Execute daily cleaning tasks, including wiping down all surfaces.
  • Handle administrative tasks as required.
  • Set up and dismantle serving areas to ensure timely meal service.
  • Foster a welcoming dining atmosphere by addressing students’ meal-related inquiries.
  • Participate in faculty/staff, grade level, and division meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.
  • Commit to the mission, vision, and values of Villa Academy.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2+ years of experience working in customer service, reception, or front-of-house roles.
  • Experience in food service and/or working with children aged four to fourteen in a childcare, educational, or recreational setting preferred.
  • Proficiency with tablet for data entry cashiering.
  • Readiness to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and perform tasks that involve kneeling or sitting on the floor as needed.
  • Capacity to perform all housekeeping tasks and any other duties as part of the role’s responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for working with students, parents, faculty/staff, and campus partners.
  • Positive energy and enthusiasm for working in a Preschool through Eighth Grade, faith-based independent school.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional growth, curiosity, cultural humility, and antiracism, as well as an understanding of its critical role in academic excellence and student growth.

SALARY RANGE AND BENEFITS:
Anticipated salary ranges between $22 – 25.50/hour, Any offered salary is determined based on internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
