Job description: The Waste Public Education and Awareness Specialist is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing educational programs and campaigns aimed at promoting waste reduction, recycling, and proper waste management practices within the community. This role involves working closely with local residents, businesses, schools, and community groups to raise awareness, provide information, and foster sustainable behavior change to enhance waste management efforts.Key Responsibilities:Public Education & Awareness Campaigns:
- Design, implement, and evaluate public education campaigns focusing on waste reduction, recycling, composting, and sustainable waste disposal.
- Develop and distribute educational materials (e.g., brochures, newsletters, online content) tailored to diverse audiences.
- Organize and lead community outreach events, workshops, and seminars to raise awareness about waste management and sustainability practices.
Community Engagement:
- Serve as the point of contact for community inquiries about waste management services and sustainability programs.
- Collaborate with schools, businesses, and community organizations to promote environmental education and waste management programs.
- Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations to expand outreach and encourage involvement in recycling and waste diversion programs.
Monitoring & Reporting:
- Track the effectiveness of educational programs and campaigns through surveys, feedback, and participation data.
- Prepare reports on program performance, highlighting successes, challenges, and areas for improvement.
- Regularly assess community attitudes and behaviors toward waste management, identifying gaps in knowledge and opportunities for further education.
Social Media & Digital Presence:
- Manage social media accounts and online platforms to promote awareness of waste management initiatives and encourage participation.
- Create engaging digital content, including videos, graphics, and posts, to educate the public on waste-related issues and solutions.
Training & Support:
- Provide training and resources for local government staff, volunteers, and other stakeholders involved in waste management initiatives.
- Support local businesses and organizations in implementing waste reduction and recycling programs.
Program Development:
- Research and propose new initiatives aimed at improving waste diversion and sustainability efforts in the community.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices in waste management and public education.
Waste Public Education and Awareness SpecialistExtensive experience in delivering waste public education and awareness programs and methods.5 years’ experience in waste public education and awareness programs, with international experience. Educated to degree level minimum. Must be bilingual (Arabic and English).
Expected salary: 5000 – 6000 per month
