Insect Cell Based Assay Development Co-Op
PURPOSE
Work with lead scientists to develop cell-based assays and advance our understanding of insect control technologies. This co-op will develop transfection methods for in-vitro-cultured insect cells and relevant assays to insecticidal proteins. The co-op will work with a team of scientists and leads from Bayer’s Cell Sciences & Imaging team and project teams to ensure translation of these tools and relevance to pests of agronomic importance.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role are to:
- Identify and compare different transfection methods for insect cells
- Optimize and standardize transfection methods
- Verify the protocols by various cell biology stains and quantitative analysis
- Self-motivated to communicate and seek solutions for any challenges
- Present the progress and results with the team
- Document protocols in detail for all workflows and ensure knowledge transfer to CSI team members
- Comply with all safety, stewardship, and IT/information security policies and regulations

Required Qualifications:
- Must be registered and currently enrolled in a graduate program – PhD or Masters in Biology, Medicine, or a related area
- Prior project experience
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills in assay development
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
