Job description: Front Office ManagerThe successful incumbent will be responsible for the following:

  • The acquisition and maintenance of guests
  • Maintains working relationships and communicates with all departments
  • To manage and oversee the daily operation of the Front Office, Reservations and Housekeeping Departments
  • Leading, training and motivating of staff
  • Ensure that the necessary training is scheduled to meet and maintain departmental standards
  • Maintaining the required operational and service standards
  • Be involved in the recruitment process of departmental staff for Front Office, Reservations, Housekeeping and Maintenance
  • Guest comment management
  • Handling and resolving guest queries and complaints
  • Ensuring that the “O” status for the department is kept to a minimum
  • Operate the hotels property management system
  • Planning of monthly departmental rosters and completion of monthly payroll documentation
  • Various aspects of administration
  • Effective communication is maintained by attending and hosting meetings as required
  • Handling of all disciplinary requirements
  • Perform duty manager shifts as required by the business operations
  • Implementation and management of the hotels quality plan in conjunction with the GM
  • Fill in as acting Hotel Manager in the absence of the GM
  • Serves on hotel committees as determined by the GM

The following are the requirements:

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a similar position
  • A high level of leadership and motivational skills
  • Must be guest and service driven
  • Must be trustworthy
  • Be prepared to work shifts, weekend duty manager and overtime
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Be able to supervise staff, evaluate performance and maintain training files
  • Time management is of absolute importance
  • Computer literacy (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Opera knowledge
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Positive attitude
  • Matric Certificate
  • National Diploma in Hospitality Management or similar qualification would be an advantage
