About the role
- Custodians play a crucial role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment within our organization. This position is responsible for performing a wide range of custodial duties to ensure the cleanliness and functionality of our facilities. Custodians will work independently and as part of a team to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
What you’ll do
80% General Cleaning:
- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.
- Clean surfaces, including desks, tables, and windowsills.
- Empty and maintain clean waste receptacles.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, and mirrors.
- Utilize restroom cleaning machine as primary method of cleaning restrooms and showers, such as the Kaivac brand.
- Restock restroom supplies such as toilet paper, soap, and paper towels.
- Clean and maintain kitchen or breakroom areas, including appliances and countertops.
- Dispose of trash and recyclables in an environmentally responsible manner.
- Monitor and order cleaning supplies, chemicals, and equipment as needed.
- Maintain an organized inventory of cleaning materials.
- Properly handle and store cleaning chemicals in accordance with safety guidelines.
- Operate floor cleaning equipment, such as scrubbers and carpet cleaners.
- Identify and report any damage or repairs required for flooring.
- Strip, wax, and polish hard floors as needed.
20% Special Projects:
- Assist with groundskeeping, as needed
- Perform deep cleaning tasks and special projects.
- Set up and take down for events, meetings, and conferences as requested.
Safety and Security:
- Ensure that all entrances and exits are clear of debris and safe for use.
- Keep emergency exits and fire lanes accessible at all times.
- Report any safety hazards, damage, or suspicious activity to the facilities manager.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines.
- Maintain compliance with health and sanitation standards.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous custodial or janitorial experience preferred.
- Knowledge of cleaning techniques, chemicals, and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects and perform physical tasks.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a safe environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Physical Requirements
This position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move heavy objects (up to 50 pounds), stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, reach, and perform physical tasks associated with custodial duties. The Custodian must also be able to work in various environmental conditions, including exposure to cleaning chemicals and dust.

The pay range for this role is:
