Job description: Join Our Team and Shape the Future of Financial Excellence!We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Portfolio Accountant to join my clients dynamic team. As a Portfolio Accountant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial data within their property portfolio.You will be responsible for various financial tasks including but not limited to preparing monthly financial statements, analyzing variances, and assisting with budget preparation.This role is based in Sandton, Johannesburg North.Key Responsibilities:
- Check General Ledger (G/L) of each building within the portfolio on a monthly basis and prepare the monthly financials, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Verify and process monthly contracts and municipal accounts payments, accruing where necessary.
- Ensure that recoveries are raised for operational costs and utilities.
- Collaborate with Property/Centre Managers to address accruals, projections, and anomalies in ledgers.
- Prepare and post all monthly adjusting journals accurately and in a timely manner.
- Process monthly accruals and projections, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Generate variance reports and provide insightful commentary on projections.
- Analyze and reconcile balance sheet accounts, addressing discrepancies promptly.
- Follow up on outstanding creditor contractual invoices and query contractual increases above budgeted figures.
- Engage with Utility Managers to resolve billing discrepancies and accruals.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assist in budget preparation and data capturing activities.
- Maintain financial records for audit purposes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Prepare monthly income comparison reports against budget and analyze month-to-month movements on a tenant level.
Requirements:
- Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4 years relevant working experience
- Property Industry exposure would be advantageous
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
