Position Summary
The role of the Client Reporting Advisor is a technical position that will design, develop, and produce professional reports within the pharmacy benefits management (PBM) division. This role will have responsibilities as a technical lead and subject matter lead for project initiatives and ongoing processes. They will coach and mentor other team members on product and technical matters and build strong relationships with stakeholders. They will independently work on assignments and provide professional recommendations to leadership on solutions in alignment to the strategic goals of the company. They may have application-level responsibilities.
This leader will have the primary functions of being the client facing point of contact for the reporting team, managing, and supporting intake of requirements and requests ensuring critical reporting deliverables are met as well as performing ad hoc reporting development including querying data and formatting for client presentment. You will also be responsible for working closely with stakeholders and business partners to drive enhancements and structure into the reporting process as well as clearly define requirements acting as the intermediary between requestors and developers.
In this role they will code in SQL (structured query language) with DDL (data definition language) and DML (data manipulation language) to deliver quality reporting efficiently and effectively. They will code in languages like VB (visual basic), MDX, DMX, and Python. The manager will write SQL to create queries, views, stored procedures, tables, and functions to extract, transform, and load data (ETL) into reports and analytical data sets. They will write complex algorithms to calculate business metrics and maintain the reporting data mart. They will use development software like SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services), SSIS (SQL Server Integration Services), SSAS (SQL Server Analysis Services), Microsoft Visual Studio, (SSMS) SQL Server Management Studio. They will extract data from various database management systems like Oracle, DB2, Teradata, and Microsoft SQL and be able to work with other structures of data like XML, JSON, and text files. The role requires development using modern BI tools like Tableau, PowerBI, and other development tools like Gitlab.
The role will configure subscriptions, schedules, and triggers in SQL Server Management Studio and other push and pull technologies to refresh and deliver traditional reports, data feeds, and data assets.
The manager will be proficient and able to coach others to use traditional waterfall development life cycle and modern iterative agile methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban. They will work with leadership, other Business Analysts, Quality Analysts, and business partners, sometimes including external stakeholders to program ad hoc and automated reporting solutions to meet operational and regulatory needs. They will document technical specifications and ensure test cases are completed prior to release to production. They will be responsible to provide appropriate documentation and knowledge transfer to production support and secondary level support as needed including occasional rotational on call support for troubleshooting and urgent ad hoc reports. The manager will support leadership by developing project estimates considering scope, time, quality, and cost, with technology considerations and design options making recommendations that align with our enterprise technology and business goals and other policies and procedures. The manager will be able to provide regular project updates to stakeholders including presentations that provide timelines, risk assessments, and other progress milestones to represent the health of an overall project.
The manager must be versed in best practices and be able to design data models (Entity Relationship Diagrams or ERDs), and be proficient with concepts including normalization, star schema designs, use of indexes and explain plans along with referential integrity and database constraints. They should understand how to integrate solutions across business processes and technology platforms.
The domain of the data is a PBM (Pharmacy Benefit Management). The manager will become familiar with pharmacy client and operational data for regulatory and contractual obligations like CMS reporting, Medicare, Medicaid, Exchange, and commercial business. The manager will follow company policies regarding data privacy and protect data at rest and in transit using approved encryption and least based access security protocols.
This is a remote position and can be located anywhere in US.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of relevant work experience that includes a client facing role preferably within a PBM environment which include:
- Ability to translate business requests into technical reporting requirements
- Experience managing projects and initiatives to completion
- Ability and desire to learn/understand reporting concepts and data architecture in the Clinical PA world
- 5+ years of development experience and extensive knowledge in T-SQL, SQL, SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS
- Proficient in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and Visual Studio including related Business Intelligence designer tools for report definition and data transformation services.
- Design, develop, and document logical and physical data models. Create Data Definition and Data Manipulation language scripts (DDL and DML). Document designs using data modeling software like Erwin or Visio.
- Navigating between business rules and technical code and communicating with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Independently and professionally interact and consult with a variety of stakeholders including operational leaders, account managers, analysts, IT partners, and external clients to provide data driven solutions.
- Ability to lead others and take ownership of processes that align to our overall enterprise goals and objectives. Being a trusted thought partner for leadership and constructively providing appropriate input.
- Ability to work in new and ambiguous situations, take reasonable risk to try new processes and technology, and champion change.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Healthcare or Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) and related regulations
- Design, develop, and document data flows using tools like Tableau Prep
- Experience with at least one data visualization software like Tableau or Power BI
- Account Management experience
- Knowledge of Clinical Prior Authorization processes
- 1 year of Project Management experience
- Audit support experience
- Experience using Visio to develop process flows
- Demonstrated success using written and verbal communication skills to present information
- Cloud computing experience with AWS (Amazon Web Services), Microsoft Azure, or GCP (Google Cloud Platform)
- Application development using asp.net
- Familiar with DevOps and CI/CD
Education
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$60,300.00 – $132,600.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
