The Clinical Nurse Consultant – Sexual Assault Support Service and Examination

  • Provide clinical leadership for innovation in service delivery across paediatric and adult sexual assault support service to improve coordination of care for alleged victims of sexual assault, liaising with police, child protection, support services and the criminal justice system.
  • Develop clinical policies, procedures and guidelines for the Sexual Assault Support Service for use by internal and external health practitioners in the region within a best practice framework and in accordance with national policies, guidelines and frameworks across that support both a paediatric and adult cohort.
  • Provide clinical leadership for and documentation of examinations conducted by non-forensic specialists to ensure compliance with policies and evidentiary requirements.
  • Develops effective relationships with other service providers across Tasmania to improve services and service access, supporting the strategic directions of the Agency, in order that best possible outcomes are achieved.
  • Provide forensic and physical examinations of alleged victims of sexual assault aged 17 years and over, ensuring that the collection and documentation of evidence is in accordance with policies and evidentiary requirements.
  • Undertake state-wide co-ordination of reporting requirements to appropriate bodies.

Details of Appointment

Permanent, full time, day worker (with on-call) position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary:

$111,506 to $118,336 per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Post Graduate Allowance of up to 7.5% based on qualification type.
  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $500 per annum.
  • Salary range is in accordance with Nurses and Midwives (Tasmanian State Service) Agreement 2023

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Holds or is working towards a post-graduate qualification in the area of sexual assault forensic and medical examination.
  • Participates in a 24/7 on call roster, in addition to employed hours, as required.

The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted: * Conviction checks in the following areas:

  • crimes of violence
  • sex related offences
  • serious drug offences
  • crimes involving dishonesty
  • Identification check
  • Disciplinary action in previous employment check.
