What you’ll be doing

The primary purpose of this position is to provide coordination, administration and promotion of the Special Needs Dental Service to ensure access to specialised dental services and welfare interventions for clients from disadvantaged backgrounds and with complex needs. This will be achieved by providing information about professional health and welfare services to clients and health staff in a timely, efficient and professional manner. The position includes responsibilities in record management, general office and education/promotion with community agencies/services and client groups.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.

All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.

A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.

In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.

Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.

  • Diploma in Social Welfare or relevant industry experience.
  • Experience working with people experiencing homeless and/or clients of drug & alcohol or mental health facilities and a proven ability to understand their complex needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster and maintain efficient communication with clients, referring agencies and team members.
  • Superior organisational and time management skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands.
  • Strong computer skills, including managing spreadsheet data collections and maintaining electronic health records.
  • Strong networking links within community based agencies and services.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, including a polite telephone manner, report writing and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to undertake further education and professional development.
