The Role

Do you want to be a key contributor to our Defence maritime capability?
If so, you may be well suited to our Governance Officer role within the Regional Maintenance Centre – North located in Darwin. You will have knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, Government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements, and will have the opportunity to engage and communicate regularly with In-Service Support Contractors, Navy personnel and other Defence agencies.
We are seeking a team player with highly developed communication and stakeholder management skills and someone who genuinely believes in collaborating both within and across organisational boundaries to achieve outcomes.
About our Team
In response to the Australian Government developing a nationwide naval shipbuilding enterprise the Maritime Sustainment Model is implemented to realise Plan Galileo; Maritime System Division’s national, long term approach to sustainment of the naval fleet.
Regional Maintenance Centre (RMC) North is located in Darwin and will provide capability support to the Royal Australian Navy. The focus of this organisation will be on enhanced collaboration, co-ordination, workforce development and expansion to build the capability and capacity needed to meet increasing ship maintenance demands.
The Regional Maintenance Centre – North is dedicated to the continued professional development of its staff and you can expect to enhance your skills through additional formal training. As the position is located in Darwin and considered a remote locality as defined in the Defence Enterprise Agreement 2017-2020, the successful candidate will have access to additional entitlements including:

Our Ideal Candidate
As the Governance Officer, you will be required to demonstrate a range of key competencies. You’ll be able understand and can apply relevant governance legislation, Defence policies and procedures, and contribute towards solutions and prevention strategies to address work within a governance and assurance context.
You’ll be accountable under a broad direction to perform complex governance work. You will exercise a degree of independence to achieve outcomes. You will be required to monitor governance and organising your workflow, working within a team, and be capable of building team capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by others.
You’ll be an excellent communicator, with the ability to leverage interpersonal skills to build productive relationships and actively participate in work activities. You will be required to identity, anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs and expectations to achieve work unit and Defence outcomes within the governance and assurance space.
Expected salary: $88175 – 100724 per year
