What you’ll be doing

The Level 3 Palliative Care Physiotherapist has a recognised clinical specialty within their discipline and works in an area that requires high levels of clinical expertise and knowledge in the specialty. This includes knowledge in mobility assessment, falls prevention, carer and client education, home exercise prescription, respiratory management and oedema management in an inpatient or home environment.

The Level 3 Palliative Care Physiotherapist is able to provide clinical services to client groups and circumstances of a complex nature requiring advanced practice skills; implement physiotherapy interventions to address the agreed goals and liaise with community services to enable the client to reside in the community. The Level 3 Palliative Care Physiotherapist is able to demonstrate advanced reasoning skills and operate autonomously with minimum direct clinical supervision.

The Level 3 Palliative Care Physiotherapist is able to provide clinical services to client groups and circumstances of a complex nature requiring advanced practice skills. They are also responsible for the clinical supervision and support of Level 1 and 2 health professionals, technical and support staff.

The Level 3 Palliative Care Physiotherapist is involved with the planning, implementation, evaluation and reporting on clinical services.

The Level 3 Palliative Care Physiotherapist may have a consultative role within their area of expertise. They may also conduct clinical research and participate in the provision of clinical inservice education programmes to staff and students.

The Level 3 Palliative Care Physiotherapist may have an operational/supervisory role under the direction of the ISLHD Physiotherapy Head of Discipline and may be required to manage specific tasks or projects.
The Level 3 Palliative Care Physiotherapist will be required to provide clinical supervision to other staff and students.

The Level 3 Palliative Care Physiotherapist will be expected to work across sites and may participate in weekend work.

Selection Criteria: * Current Physiotherapy Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • Extensive post graduate clinical experience in the Palliative Care.
  • Demonstrated high levels of oral and written communication skills including proficient and extensive use of health based technology.
  • Demonstrated commitment and evidence of implementation of ISLHD core values.
  • Knowledge and proven ability to undertake quality improvement and service evaluation processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to participate in staff and student supervision.
  • Current NSW drivers licence or equivalent.
