What you will be doing:
An exciting opportunity is available for an Occupational Therapist to join the Allied Health team as an Acute Team Leader on a permanent full time basis. In this role you will lead, guide and manage the Occupational Therapy Acute Services and implement high levels of clinical expertise in order to provide high quality Occupational Therapy care to clients of Nepean Hospital consistent with NSW Health and Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (NBMLHD) policies, procedures and standards.

This position has management, education and clinical elements, which support the overall management of the Occupational Therapy Department, as well as directing the delivery of Occupational Therapy services across the acute care services including (but not limited to) neurology, trauma, orthopaedics, neurosurgery, general surgery, vascular and general medical services.

This position can be offered as Permanent Full time and or Part time with the possibility of job share.

Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.

Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.

Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.

Selection Criteria to be Addressed: * Recognised qualification in Occupational Therapy in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Professionals (State) Award, current registration with AHPRA and commitment to own ongoing professional development.

  • Extensive post graduate clinical experience in Acute Services, including (but not limited to) neurology, trauma, orthopaedics, neurosurgery, general surgical, vascular and general medical.
  • Demonstrated excellent leadership ability, supervisory and management skills and demonstrated ability to effectively manage the operational and administrative responsibilities of a hospital-based team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to provide consultancy regarding Occupational therapy matters and to produce reports and other documents for use at an executive level.
  • Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders throughout all organisational levels.
  • Ability to set strategic service goals, develop and implement policy, and lead service improvement through research and continuous quality improvement.
  • Ability to work as a part of a multidisciplinary team and to apply advanced clinical reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature.
  • Current Class C driver’s license and willingness to use it for work purposes.
